Choosing the right cavity slider for your project may be more important than you think! Most common complaints about cavity sliders are due to inferior quality products or issues with installation. It is important to choose a high quality product that will last - remember the frame ends up inside your wall!
The Basics - I just want a cavity slider!!
The term ‘cavity slider’ refers to the cavity pocket (including the track and carriages) installed within wall framing that allows a door to slide inside the wall. A door and handle is also required - you can supply these yourself or order them through us for a complete package.
So, why choose CS Cavity Sliders? For peace of mind. Our patented design has been tested and improved upon since 1986. Our cavity sliders have a BRANZ appraisal and are covered by a written 10 year warranty. Individually engineered components are built to last and sourced from local and sustainable resources wherever possible.
The Cavity Slider
First, you’ll need to work out the size.
Standard internal doors in NZ are 1980mm high and either 610, 660, 710, 760, 810, 860 or 910mm wide. We carry stock of our basic model, the SpaceMaker in all these sizes. If you know the trim size or frame size and need to work backwards, use our door size calculator.
You will also need to confirm the following detail:
• Jamb type - usually pine or rimu; flat for architraves or grooved for wall linings
• Wall framing and lining thickness, e.g. 90/10, 94/10 (Ask your builder if you’re not sure)
If you need a non standard size, special jambs, soft closing option or some ideas, view the complete range here or contact our customer services team to discuss your requirements.
The style of door you choose for your cavity slider is limited only by your imagination. If you go for a timber door, choose one with steel inserts for more stability and less likelihood of the door bowing. Our range of aluminium framed CS Door Leaves make sure you won’t have this problem (and they look great)!
Door handles are the ‘bling’ on your door. There are many options out there, but if you are looking for functional, good looking, high quality NZ made sliding door hardware, select from the CaviLock range. We can make the door cutout in our factory, ensuring a perfect fit every time.
